Butterfly Wishes ~ Forever Friends Card

Hey peeps, happy Saturday!
Today is my first day back at work after nine days annual leave! Wish me luck *wink*

Today I have a fun card that is a little different to share with you and used quite the mix match of products! I was really inspired to use the 'inlaid die cutting' technique where you die cut a word or a shape from a bit of paper and then place it back into the negative space. In this case I then also cut it out several times from Whisper White Cardstock and layered it up from a dimensional effect.
I love how it turned out!

I have listed the basic steps below if you are interested.

All the products used in today's post I have linked at the bottom of this post, all of which are available in my store here.

Here's a little look at the finished card.

Step 1) The first step to creating this card was stamping my fun butterflies onto a bit of scrap paper or post it note (post it note is great as it's sticky enough to create a mask!) I have then trimmed around these leaving a slight white border.

Step 2) Next I have stamped my two butterflies from the Butterfly Wishes Stamp Set, using a Sponge Dauber to apply extra darker colour to the edges. I stamped the pink butterfly first, inking in Flirty Flamingo and then sponging the edges with Melon Mambo before stamping.
I then added the mask over this butterfly before stamping the second butterfly in Crushed Curry with Mango Melody edges, so that the two butterflies slightly overlap.

Step 3) Next I have added a masked butterfly over the top of each butterfly to cover them over.
I have then added some scrap paper or large sticky note in straight lines (you could also use painters tape) to mask off a section near the butterflies where you will add colour.
Then working from left to right, I have added Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and then Granny Apple Green inks with my oval makeup brush for nice blending.

Step 4) I have then taken this piece and die cut the word 'forever' from the Sweet Silhouette Dies out of this being sure to keep ALL the pieces out of the die cut.
I have then die cut this same word out of Whisper White cardstock several times (about five) and not needing to worry about keeping the inside pieces of the letters for these ones. I have then layered all these words together with liquid glue, finally adding the original coloured die cut word on the top.  I have then placed this back into the negative space of where this die cut was originally cut from.
I have then taken the little leftover negative pieces, and added them back in their coordinating 'holes' with some Liquid Glue.

Here's a close up look at the finished card where you can see some of the detail.
I have actually kept this card relatively simple. I have added a sentiment 'Friends' actually taken from a sentiment that had the word 'Friendship' in it from Beauty Abounds.
I just trimmed this out, as I just wanted the word friends.

I have then accented with some Basic Rhinestones which I have coloured with my Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends.

Here's a look at the decorated inside of my card which I have kept simple with layers of Basic Black and Whisper White and added a stamped flourish in Bermuda Bay and a simple sentiment from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set stamped in Memento Black.

I hope you enjoyed a look at this sweet and simple card today...and best news? All of these products will be available in the new upcoming Annual Catalogue.
