By The Dock ~ Happy Birthday Card

Hello lovely crafters and welcome back to my blog.

Today I am sharing a fun card using the ever so gorgeous By A Dock Bundle that is carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue. YAY!

This card went in a direction that I wasn't really expecting but that's okay...we live and we learn.

The idea with this card was to create a sponged background with some water, and then a sunset with some orange and pink colours. When I blended the blue into the orange, we did get a bit of green happening, but that's fine - water can be green - HAHA!

I have also used some Gold Foil on my card today which is something that I NEVER do, I am a Gold Glimmer person, but unfortunately Gold Glimmer is retiring and has sold out *insert sad face here*

Be sure to check the bottom of this post for a full product list, all of which are available in my store here.

Here's a look at the finished card.

I have used a mixture of Night of Navy, Pacific Point and Bermuda Bay for my 'ocean'.
And then a mixture of Mango Melody, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo for my sunset.
When I do my sponging, I pretty much always use an oval makeup sponge now. I love those things.
I have had many questions of where I purchase them, and my biggest suggestion is going to search for them on eBay by typing in 'oval makeup sponge'.

I have then added a strip of Gold Foil to the side and added some Braided Linen Trim and tied a bow. I need to use this trim more, it's just fabulous and ties such beautiful bows!

Here's a close up look at the finished card.
As you can see form the close up there are some 'water droplets'.
I have done this after I sponged my colours on the background by simply 'flicking' water over the background and because our inks are water based, it will work to remove the colour from these areas.

I have also added some Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets in a group of three, just for a little something extra.

My jetty/dock is coloured with a mixture of Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends and I have die cut this with the coordinating Dockside dies.

Here's another close up of the finished card where you can see the sentiment a bit closely which I have added with a circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies and layered this with a scalloped circle cut from Basic Black Cardstock to frame this sentiment.

I have also stamped, coloured and cut some beautiful seagulls from the sentiment and coloured these with the Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends.

Here's a look at the inside of my card which I have kept simple with layers of Whisper White and Basic Black with a strip of Gold Foil.
I have also added a strip of the Braided Linen Trim and some stamped and coloured seagulls.

I hope you have enjoyed today's card share.
