Ornate Garden Suite ~ Happy Birthday Card

Hello lovely crafty people!
I hope that you are all having a happy and positive day.

Today I have something fun to share with you, inspired by the lovely Rich Adkins, you can see his post here.
I just loved his idea of a rainbow background with a monochromatic flower arrangement using the Ornate Garden Suite.
I wanted to change it up, which i did a little, but his was just so gorgeous that it was a pretty close CASE to his original card.
Please do go and give him some love on his blog, he really is a talented paper crafter!

This card is also for something else special...my Mummy's birthday which is today!
My Dad asked me to make a card for him to give to my Mum and this was just perfect as she is such a bright and beautiful personality!

Here's a look at the finished card.
I have used the Ornate Garden Speciality Designer Series paper with some of the gold foiled floral prints and used a masking technique (using painters tape) to tape off areas in a geometrical pattern to sponge 'quarters' of my card.
I have used a mixture of; Crushed Curry, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Ink Pads to create my background!

I have used an oval makeup brush to apply my colour as this is one of my favourite ways to add colour to backgrounds!

Here's a picture of my gorgeous Mummy and I on my wedding day last year.
She really is an amazing soul and I am so so lucky to have her as my Mum!
I hate that this year we couldn't spend her birthday together due to COVID-19 but we did celebrate all the same!

Here's a close up of the finished card where you can see how fun the sponged colours look together on the background.

For the flowers I have stamped the floral image from the Ornate Style Stamp Set and coloured it with a mixture of Basic Black and Smoky Slate Combo blends and used the Color Lifter where I needed to blend or lift colour.

I have then added a sentiment from the Birthday Jubilee stamp set which I have heat embossed in white on some Basic Black cardstock.
This stamp set is retiring, so if it's on your wish list, be sure to go and grab it soon!

I have then embellished with some of the Basic Black Glittery Organdy Ribbon and some flowers die cut from Lovely Lipstick Cardstock with the In The Tropics Dies. I have then added some Gilded Gems to the centres of these.

Of course I have added some Wink of Stella as well!

Here's a look at the inside of my card where I have added layers of Basic Black and Whisper White with a strip of the leftover DSP and added another flower and a coordinating sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed a look at this fabulous suite of products made into a birthday card using some fun colouring techniques.
